Getting to Know Rich

Hello, I’m Rich Kaye,
I hale from the horse country of southeastern Oklahoma.
I have been around rodeo all my life as a participant in the early years and as a announcer since 1995.
Over the years I have seen many changes come about in the arena and have also made the adjustments. I find it necessary to stay on top of the rodeo industry. I feel, as a rodeo announcer I have responsibilities other than simply revealing names and numbers. For ex: To deliver clear crisp sound to the crowd, with details of events, how it happens, history of the riders, recognize the rodeo sponsors, and to turn rodeo spectators into RODEO FANS!
I have worked in the radio industry since 1977, and as a result of my professional radio background, I have the ability to successfully assist you in promoting your event. My years in radio broadcasting assist me in informing the rodeo fans in a manner thats easily understood.
I have been fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity to work with some exceptional people in the rodeo industry such as...J.C. Ward and Sons, Wildhorse Rodeo, Barnes and Sons, Sweetwater Rodeo, Triple B Rodeo, Flying C, Cyclone Bull Productions, Polk Rodeo Co., Stockyards Championship Rodeo Fort Worth, to name a few.
With my life long knowledge of rodeo, mix of music and constant mention of sponsors, I will give you what you expect and deserve.

Rich Kaye receives his "Announcer of the Year" buckle from Tim Brown, President of the Mid-Western Bull Riding Association

Here's a switch.  During the week, he wakes us up, spins the tunes, and keeps us entertained as host of the KYKC Coffee Shop and Wake Up Show. But

on weekends, Rich Kaye trades in his headphones and studio microphone for his best black stetson, silver buckle, boots and wranglers creased show sharp you can cut yourself on them, to pick up a different type of microphone, that of a professional rodeo announcer.  During his 10 years on the road as a rodeo announcer, Rich has covered rodeos and bullridings in 5 states and comments "Traveling is one of the things I enjoy most about announcing."  And just recently he had the honor of announcing the Mid-Western Bull Riding Association finals in Elm Springs Arkansas where he was voted, by the board members and bullriders as the 2003 "Announcer of the Year".  During his career as a rodeo announcer his  achievements also  include the 2000 & 2001 "Announcer of the Year" with the ThunderBull Riding Association, and was voted "Ada's Favorite Male Radio Personality" in 2002.

In addition to his Rodeo and Radio duties, Rich helps out at the new WindWalker Stable just south of Ada, operated by his wife Jennifer which includes, but not limited to full care equine boarding and local hauling.

When it comes to excitement, nothing compares to rodeo, that comment comes from being around rodeo most all of his life, from competing as a young bareback rider in the late 70's and early 80's to his present day announcing.

"I still get butterflies before I start announcing," Rich says, "but unlike years ago, now they fly in formation."
